This cherished family musical tells the moving story of a freckle-faced, red-haired orphan named Anne Shirley who arrives at the Bright River Railway Station full of hope for a new life. Her destination is the home of brother and sister Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island. When she arrives at Green Gables, Anne is devastated when she discovers that Matthew and Marilla are expecting a boy from the orphanage, and then ecstatic when they decide to keep her. With her fiery temper and love of melodrama and romance, Anne brings laughter, love, and more than a little misadventure to the Cuthberts’ quiet lives. In return, Anne finds the home she has longed for all her life.
A 28-member ensemble cast of adults and children ages 8 through 88 will be needed to bring Avonlea to life.
Performance dates:
Friday, September 26th at 7pm
Saturday, September 27th at 7pm
Sunday, September 28th at 2pm
All performances will be at the Jack T. Wells Center at KY Wesleyan on Frederica.
Tech week dates are Sunday, September 21st – Thursday September 25th .
Attendance for ALL Tech week dates and performances is mandatory.

At the audition sessions, actors will:
Meet the directors and a photo will be taken.
Complete an audition form, including any scheduling conflicts thru 9/28/2025.
Sing individually.
Read cuts from the script in small groups. (If in a later group, you could expect to
be there for the entire session.)
Call-backs:
Sunday, July 28th : 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Call-backs will be requested as needed.
Mixed – some children & adults.
Not being needed at call-backs does NOT mean you are not being considered for a role.
Cast list will be posted on the Encore Musicals Facebook page as soon as possible.
First rehearsal will include all cast members at Third Baptist Church, 527 Allen St., Owensboro, KY, on Tuesday, July 29th , at 6:00 pm in the Fireside Room.
The entrance is off of the Daviess Street parking lot.
